Tis the season for Pumpkin Spice everything! Share your love for pumpkin with your furry friend too! Pumpkin is very nutritional in a dog’s diet and they love the taste. Since your pup can’t join you in your pumpkin spiced lattes, we found some ways you can incorporate pumpkin into their diet. These recipes are even perfect for Thanksgiving celebration.

Health Benefits for Dogs consuming Pumpkin:

  • Grinding pumpkin seeds into your pet’s food is a great way to make sure they’re getting enough protein, carbohydrates and fiber.
  • Pumpkin seeds contain cucurbitin; which is an amino acid that acts as a natural de-worming agent by paralyzing tapeworms, and other intestinal parasites.
  • Pumpkin flesh slows digestion and help manage diarrhea by absorbing water
  • Great for constipation due to its high fiber and water content
  • Contains Vitamin C; which can help dogs with joint problems and boost the Immune System
  • The zinc in pumpkin will help improve skin and coat

Frozen Pumpkin Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

Directions

  1. Mix pumpkin and yogurt together in a bowl
  2. Divide the mixture evenly into an ice tray or molds
  3. Freeze for 24 hours
  4. Pop the treats out of the mold and put into a freezer bag for storage. You can also leave them in the ice tray if you have the room in your freezer.

Directions

  1. Mix pumpkin and yogurt together in a bowl

Banana Pumpkin Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour + extra for dusting counter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 banana, mashed

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F
  2. Mix eggs, banana and pumpkin together. Add flour and mix until all the flour is incorporated.
  3. Lightly dust the counter and a rolling pink with flour, then roll out dough to approximately ⅛’ and cut out treats
  4. Lay out a baking sheet and bake for approximately 20 minutes. Let treats cool before giving them to your pup!
