Majority of pet parents will do anything in their willpower to keep their dog healthy and happy. Dogs have become such an important family member in households over the past decades. They are no longer considered “just a pet”; people now consider them to be family, which they should because they are! Like any other family member, we want them to be overall happy with their life.

Our dogs are our support system. They motivate us, help us when we are feeling blue and are always there for you no matter what; so why not keep your fur bundle of joy the happiest they can be?

Continue to read on about ways to keep your dog happy

Grooming Care

Whether it’s home grooming or going to a professional, grooming care is important for a dog’s happiness. Dogs need to be brushed at least once a week; longer hair dogs need to be brushed even more. This helps eliminate odors and helps get rid of tangles. If a dog is not properly groomed, their fur can become matted; and it’s very painful to be removed. Make your dog’s bath time fun! Let him feel anxious free and enjoy this pampering moment.

Another grooming tip is to learn how to give a dog a massage. This can be done after brushing their fur or while lathering the shampoo on their body. Who doesn’t love a good massage? This will help relax your dog.

Routine Care

Routine care is one of the most important things a pet parent can provide for their dog. Animals cannot communicate with us when they don’t feel well. We can only assume they don’t feel good by their behavior. It’s important to take them to the vet for yearly check ups for physicals and to have their vaccinations covered. Taking your dog to his appointments also helps if they were sick and to get them properly treated as soon as possible.

Providing a healthy lifestyle is also part of routine care. Taking your dog on walks, daily exercise, healthy nutrition choices, taking them to the vets, proper grooming and having a normal sleeping cycle is all part of your dog having a healthy lifestyle and overall happiness.

Plenty of Exercise

Physical activity is very crucial for a dog’s overall health and well-being. Dogs need to be exercised daily. Exercising tones a dog’s muscles, helps the body and metabolic system to function properly and engages the mind. The amount of exercise is based on a dog’s age, breed, size and overall health. It’s recommended to spend 30 mins – 2 hours every day. Consult with your vet to help decide how much exercise your dog actually needs. Simple activities to incorporate in once a day can be walking or throwing the ball around.

Love and Affection

At the end of the day, a dog just wants to be loved. It’s important to create a bond with your fur baby. The love and trust between you and your dog is a very powerful tool. There is nothing better than a dog’s cuddle, kisses or coming home after a long day of work and seeing your dog overly excited to see you. Little actions go a long way with maintaining a positive relationship with your pet.
